Customizable HTML E-Mails with Advanced Tracking Features
January 8th, 2008
Each member of FineArtAmerica.com now has the ability to create customized HTML e-mails which you can send to your friends, family, art colllectors, business acquaintances, and more!
What is a customizable HTML e-mail?
It's a beautiful e-mail with graphics - just like the ones that you receive from Amazon.com, HomeDepot.com, and other retailers.
What is customizable about it?
Absolutely everything! You can include your images from Fine Art America... you can include your headshot... you can include links to other websites... you can include images from other websites... and more! Best of all, you don't need any HTML experience in order to put together a beautiful e-mail.
Who can I e-mail it to?
You can upload up to 10,000 e-mail addresses to FineArtAmerica.com and then e-mail all of them directly from our site in a matter of seconds. Each person on your list will receive a personalized e-mail (i.e. not a bulk carbon copy), and each e-mail is sent from your personal e-mail address (e.g. myaddress@hotmail.com) - yes, we can really do that!
Why would I want to send out a bunch of beautiful e-mails?
Beautiful artwork deserves beautiful e-mails! There is simply no better way to keep your friends, family, and potential art collectors informed of your latest works, upcoming events, and more! Imagine - every time you schedule an appearance at an art fair, every time you finish a new painting or photograph, every time you offer a discount on your artwork... you can create a beautiful e-mail in a matter of minutes and then send it to everyone on your list!
You can now proactively drive people to your web pages and increase your sales!
Is there anything else that I should know?
Yes - when you send out an e-mail, you can track to see if and when it gets opened! Yes - we can really do that, too!
Does it cost anything to use this feature?
No - it's 100% free for all members. A feature like this typically costs $100+ per month from other online retailers (e.g. http://www.constantcontact.com/pricing/index.jsp).
Why is it free?
In 2009, Fine Art America is dedicated to becoming the premier online venue for professional and up-and-coming artists. We have a wealth of features which do not exist anywhere else in the online art world (e.g. automatic location detection, high-resolution previews, stretched canvas previews, and more), and this is one more to add to the list.
Are my e-mails and e-mail lists secure?
Yes - your e-mails and e-mail lists are always kept private. FineArtAmerica.com will not send e-mails (e.g. newsletters, promotions, etc.) to anyone on your e-mail lists unless they have voluntarily registered to be a member of our site (i.e. registered as an artist, gallery owner, or art collector).
How do I get started?
If you're already a member, simply login to your account and click on the "E-Mail" tab. You can create your e-mail right there in a matter of minutes.
If you're not a member, just open a free account, and you're off!
Stretched Canvas Previews
August 24th, 2008
Stretched canvases have become very popular on FineArtAmerica.com. In order to help members sell their artwork in this configuration, we have just released a new feature which can automatically display any flat image as a beautifully stretched canvas. Here is another
example.
To view your artwork as a stretched canvas, simply visit one of your artwork pages and click on the link that says "Stretched" underneath "Buy a Giclee Print". Note - this feature is available only to print-on-demand members.
There is simply no better way to "try before you buy" and encourage visitors to purchase your prints!
Free Print on Demand Trial Period
August 10th, 2008
To celebrate the one year anniversary of the
print on demand program, we are offering a free preview of the program to all non-POD members. Starting now and running through September 15th, you can order prints of your
own artwork, regardless of whether or not you're participating in the print-on-demand program.
Have you ever wondered what your artwork would look like as a beautiful print? Now you can find out.
Simply login to your account, click on any one of your images, and you'll see a special promotional link which allows you to order the image as a print. Note - the special promotional link is only visible to members who are not currently enrolled in print-on-demand. POD members have always been able to purchase their own artwork and do not need a special link.
You can order your prints on paper or canvas and choose to have them framed, matted, and/or stretched on canvas, if desired.
Print on Demand Sample Kits
August 3rd, 2008
To help you choose the perfect paper or canvas for your next order, we'll send you our paper/canvas sample kit - for only $5.00!
Sample kits include seven papers and two canvases. Each paper and canvas is printed with a full-color fine art image and a black & white photographic image. Preview the gorgeous colors and clarity of our giclee prints, and observe how each paper takes its inks.
Hold them. Feel them. Study them under a microscope. Get to know them! Each of our museum-quality papers has its own unique properties, and each one will contribute something different to your print.
New Marketing Logos
June 21st, 2008
For those of you whom like to advertise your FAA pages on your own website, blog, or other sites, there are several new logos that you can use.
Simply login to your account and go to your 'marketing' tab, and you'll find the HTML code that you can copy and paste into another site.
Member Groups
April 26th, 2008
Members can now create their own groups! Each group is moderated by its creator and has its own:
artwork pages
discussion pages
blogs
activity pages
and more!
This is the simplest way to share artwork and ideas with like-minded FAA members. Join one of the existing groups or create your own!
Customizable Shopping Cart
April 20th, 2008
If you want to sell prints of your artwork but don't want to direct your visitors away from your own website... here's your solution! It's an FAA-powered shopping cart that you can link to and add to
your own site in less than one minute. Allow your visitors to buy your prints with custom framing, matting, and/or canvas stretching. We process their credit cards using secure SSL technology, fulfill the orders using your high-resolution images, and then send you payments via check or PayPal once the orders ship!
This technology does not exist anywhere else online!
Visit
Skip Hunt's website and click on "order prints" (at the lower left of his homepage) to see how it works.
To setup your own customized shopping cart, simply login to your account, click on the "print on demand" tab, and follow the instructions listed there.
Secure, Full-Resolution Previews
March 15th, 2008
Fine Art America is dedicated to helping artists and art galleries sell fine art originals and prints online.
In order to make it easier for art collectors to make buying decisions regarding artwork that they can't physically hold and inspect, Fine Art America has developed a
unique technology which allows collectors to "zoom in" and view full-resolution previews of any image on our site. To see a live demonstration, click here.
This feature has the dual benefits of allowing collectors to take a closer at an image while still protecting the image from theft.
For any image, such as the Lincoln Memorial image on the right, previews are available in square sections which cover the image in a checkerboard pattern. Previews are only available for
50% of those sections. Think of it this way - if you were to lay a checkerboard over the image, you could view full-resolution previews by looking through white squares, but the black squares would be off limits. By only offering high-resolution previews for 50% of the image, it is
impossible for the high-resolution image to be illegally copied. In addition, each of the full-resolution previews contains a Fine Art America watermark which further complicates theft.
Watermarks
March 15th, 2008
For those artists that are interested in complete image protection, you can now watermark your low-resolution images!
This is an optional feature which can be turned ON and OFF on an image by image basis.
It is our opinion that watermarks typically discourage sales, and therefore, we discourage watermarks. However, the final decision is up to the artist.

Recent Print Sales
January 11th, 2008
Sold on January 11th to a buyer in Rumford, Rhode Island (United States)
It seems to be quite popular to discuss "who is selling" and "what is selling" on FineArtAmerica.com. Our
discussion pages are always active with posts regarding those two topics. In response to this persistent curiousity, we've created a new page which displays a partial list of recently sold prints!
The page is located
here and can be accessed anytime by clicking on Artwork -> Recently Sold Print in our navigation menu.
The page will display a random selection of prints which have sold within the past month. We will only be showing prints which have NOT been purchased by their owner. You can see where the artwork was purchase from and how the buyer configured the purchase (i.e. paper vs. canvas, frame, mat, etc.).
This is a great way to get a glimpse of what's selling and, should you chose to contact them, to learn from the artists that are having sales success!
